「The Other Side of the Event Horizon」
When the Earth was not yet understood to be spherical, how did people imagine what lay beyond the horizon?
In physics, the event horizon refers to the boundary beyond which information—including light and electromagnetic radiation—can no longer be transmitted or observed. It is the threshold at which the past, and everything beyond it, becomes fundamentally inaccessible.
In the case of a black hole, this unseen realm lies within a gravitational field so intense that neither matter nor light can escape. In an expanding universe, it may also describe regions receding from Earth faster than the speed at which their light can ever reach us, rendering them forever beyond observation.
This exhibition explores the possibility of interpreting time and space on the far side of such horizons. By contemplating worlds that remain inherently unobservable, it invites viewers to reflect on the limits of perception, the nature of knowledge, and the unseen realities that exist beyond the boundaries of human observation.

ONO Kunihiro
Kunihiro Ono completed the Master’s Program in Fine Arts at the Graduate School of Nagoya University of Arts in 2007. Grounded in an interest in physics, his practice explores the concepts of time, space, and their relativity. Using photography as a tool to investigate phenomena that are difficult to perceive visually or comprehend cognitively, he creates works that capture enigmatic and dreamlike landscapes, primarily through long-exposure techniques.
Seeking to reveal the natural transformations of space-time through photography, Ono approaches his practice from a position akin to that of an observer or researcher. His works embody interpretations derived from the results of these observations. Since 2014, he has presented numerous solo exhibitions, including seven exhibitions at AIN SOPH DISPATCH in Nagoya. He has also participated in many group exhibitions, including Para-Landscape: Imagination to Face the Changing Reality at the Mie Prefectural Art Museum in 2019. His works are included in public collections, including the Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art.
